2017 is coming to its end and it’s time to look back and remember all the exciting events we organized and attended. It is also time to say a big thank to all the people we are grateful to. But, first of all, we would like to wish all our readers a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2018!
One more year, Olores.org has grown beyond our wildest expectations. In terms of readership, this year 2017 we got more than 53 000 page loads, with around 28 000 unique visitors and around 7 000 returning visitors. All this has been possible thanks to your time to reading and supporting us. That's why we want to say THANK YOU!
First of all, I would like to thank to the companies that advertise in this site, because they make possible that this portal exists:
I would like to thank one more year to The Synergy Group who has been there also in the last 8 years. TSG, with hundreds of customers all over the world, has announced this year the enlargement of its action field. TSG will now become TSG Environmental and it will have several areas: Air, Water and Bio-Treatment and Sludge. This company provides diagnostic services for each area: EnviroConsulting (Ex Ecometrika), EnviroSolutions offering solutions for different areas and EnviroSentinel, a complete line of services for environmental monitoring. With more than 20 years experience in this area, TSG was a Gold Sponsor in the IV International Conference of Odours and VOCs in the Environment that took place the 20th and 21st of September 2017 in Valladolid, Spain.
As last year, we also had the pleasure of counting on the support of the international company SGS. This company set a banner in olores.org for 6 months, and we are very grateful to them as well. Besides this, SGS also joined the IV International Conference about Odours and VOCs in the Environment in Valladolid, for the first time, as Silver Sponsor. SGS is a well-known world leader in inspection, verification, analysis and certification. With more than 90 000 employees and a network of more than 2 000 offices and laboratories all over the world, SGS is one of the main global benchmarks for quality and integrity.
Besides, we would also like to express our gratitude to the companies and people that have supported the IV International Conference of Odours and VOCs in the Environment that took place the 20th and 21st of September 2017 in Valladolid, Spain:
First of all, we would like to thank our co-organizers, the Department of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology of the University of Valladolid (UVa). Without the help of Raul Munoz and Raquel Lebrero, we couldn’t have made such a successful event; nor without the contributions of their students who also helped us. Thanks you all!
In addition, we also had the pleasure of counting on the support of LABAQUA, which has been supporting the olores.org conferences from the very beginning. LABAQUA, founded in 1991, is one of the leader companies in the field of analytical laboratories services as well as environmental consulting. Labaqua is part of the multinational SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, a holding company that operates in different fields related to services to the community. The team Labaqua-Suez joined us in the IV International Conference about Odours and VOCs in the Environment in Valladolid, Spain as Silver Sponsors.
Once again, we would like to thank to ODOURNET, for trusting the work done in this website and for all the support shown in all the events we organized. Odournet is an international group of odour research & air quality consultants specialised in environmental odour management & sensory evaluation of products & materials, which recently has become partner with the company Envirosuite, in order to enhance the quality of their services by linking the fields of consulting and technology applied to the predictive management of environmental risks in the field of odour impact. Odournet-Envirosuite joined us as silver sponsor for this IV International Conference about Odours and VOCs in the Environment in Valladolid.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the company Sewervac for trusting us and for contributing to the conference with a Silver sponsorship. The company Sewervac is a firm with professionals of over 20 years of experience in the urban hydraulics sector. Their clients are water management companies, public bodies and important private clients that seek solutions to the emission of odours from collection systems.
We also uploaded all the videos from the last conference in 2017 in our Youtube channel. We hope you enjoy them!
This year we officially founded together with a group of enthusiasts from many countries the first International Environmental Association of Odour Managers. This association, AMIGO (that stands for Asociacion Medioambiental Internacional de Gestores del Olor in Spanish), is at the moment formed by people and companies of Spain, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, though now it is open for any other non-Spanish speaking members. After holding several meetings along this year, finally, the 6th November, this association was founded. We have already some important projects for the next years, so follow them up by registering as a member or signing in the gestoresdelolor.org website.
Besides all these events, we also did not miss the opportunity to attend other conferences and events during this year.
In January, we attended the Technical Training Day and the Workshop on Product and Material Testing organized by Olfasense at their laboratory facilities in Kiel, Germany. It was a real pleasure to be there learning and meeting such a great team and attendance. We are looking forward to attending the next month the workshop 2018. This time, the editor of this website is invited to present the state of the revision of the EN 13725.
In April, we went to the second MKO 2017, where a group of around 80 people gathered for two days in Krakow, Poland to talk about issues related with odour management. This was a very successful event organized by the Canadian company EOC.
A few months later, in September 2017, the 7th IWA Odours and Air Emissions Conference was hold in Poland again, this time in Warsaw. Over 100 people from all over the world met at the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer Management of the Warsaw University of Technology to talk about odour management and we were there too. After the cancellation of the previous edition of the conference which had been planned in 2015 in Paris, everyone was very excited to attend this event. The 27th of September of 2017 a representation of the IWA Odours and Volatile Emissions specialist group met to discuss about several issues related to the organization of the event. Among other things, the group decided that the city to host the 2019 IWA volatile and odours conference will be Hangzhou, China.
Unfortunately, we could not attend so many other amazing events around the world, such as the International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN2017) held in Montreal, Canada in May; the Conference on Frontiers in Olfaction held the 24-28 of July in Trieste, Italy; the CASANZ 23rd International Clean Air & Environment Conference held in Brisbane, Australia, from Sunday 15 - Wednesday 18 October 2017; the 3rd Chinese-Austrian Workshop on Environmental Odour, that took place in Beijing, China, 19-20 October 2017; the Odor Management Conference & Technology Showcase held in Los Angeles, 1-2 November 2017, organized by Scentroid; the 7th VDI Conference about Odours in the environment, held in Nuremberg, Germany, 15-16 November 2017; and many other events.
We hope you enjoy this wonderful time with your family & friends, and and we would like to invite you to continue with us next year for more about odours here, in your favourite website, Olores.org.
