II International Odour Conference (MKO 2017): Call for Abstracts is due in One Week!

MKO2017 Krakow   The second International Odour Conference (MKO 2017) is being organized by the company Environmental Odour Consulting in cooperation with two Polish universities: Gdansk University of Technology and Wroclaw University of Technology. This is an initiative taken by some known experts in this field to talk about the odour management and measurement techniques nowadays. This event will take place in Krakow, Poland between the 20th and 21st of April, 2017.

  Last year around 60 people gathered for two days in Gdansk, Poland to discuss about issues related with odour management. The first International Odour Conference (MKO 2016) took place in April this year and the interest shown by the attendants is a sample of the interest in this country to increase the knowledge on managing odours.

   Once again the Conference MKO2017 is being organized by the Canadian company Environmental Odour Consulting EOC, with support from Gdansk University of Technology and Wroclaw University of Technology.

11th Meeting of the CEN Working Group 2 in Bilbao

   Olores.org had the pleasure of organizing the 11th meeting of the Working Group (WG) 2 of the Technical Committee 264 of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This group has the task of reviewing and updating the aged European Standard EN 13725 that deals with the determination of odour concentration by dynamic olfactometry and odour emission rate from stationary sources.

   This meeting took place in the city of Bilbao, Spain a day after the meeting of the WG41. This time the working documents focused on two of the juiciest part of the standard: Sampling and uncertainty. In the previous meeting in Delft. some aspects were commented but there is still further work ahead on these issues.

The new WEF Air Quality & Odor Control Benchmarking Survey

WEF Odor survey   The Water Environmental Federation (WEF) Air Quality & Odor Control Committee has developed a survey to benchmark industry efforts related to odor control and odor management. The results of this survey will be useful for utilities to know how their organization's activities compare to what others are doing. In addition, the results will also be useful for consultants, manufacturers, and researchers to understand gaps and needs.

   The Air Quality & Odor Control Committee is a very active team of the WEF that counts with around 60 members these days. The Air Quality & Odor Control Committee develops, recommends, and conducts programs to promote general improvement in reducing odor emissions impacts related to water quality, biosolids handling, treatment and disposal, and wastewater treatment and collection.The chair of the Committee is hold by Ms. Carla Dillon, from the planning division of the Orange County Sanitation District. Ms Dillon is a very well known person that has been working in the field of odor management for many years.

US EPA update the approved version of CALPUFF to V5.8.5

new epa calpuff version   The USEPA approved in July 2016 an update of CALMET and CALPUFF from V5.8.4 to V5.8.5. This update includes code changes described in Model Change Bulletin H and include fixes to bugs in the implementation of PRIME downwash, along with updates to eliminate specific compilation and list file errors. Three years later after the last update approved by the US EPA, this second revision is still falling short for odour dispersion modelling.

   The CALPUFF Modeling System is a non-steady-state puff dispersion model that simulates the effects of time- and space-varying meteorological conditions on pollution transport, transformation, and removal. According to the US EPA CALPUFF can be applied for long-range transport and for complex terrain.

Limited seats left for Olfasense Odour Workshops January 2017

Olfasense workshops   The company Olfasense is organizing a Technical Training Day and a Workshop on Product and Material Testing at their Olfasense laboratory facilities in Kiel, Germany, the 25th of January 2017. Even though it is more than two months away, the registration list is filling up quickly, so if you were thinking about attending this event you better hurry up because there is a limited amount of places available.

   In this Olfasense Technical Training Day the attendants will have the opportunity of learning how to set up, maintain and manage an olfactometry laboratory. As a bonus, the following day there will be also the 2017 edition of their Workshop on Product and Material Testing.

scentroid webinars    The Canadian company Scentroid is organizing 9 Online Free Webinars on various topics related to air and odour management. These webinars will start on Nov. 16th 2016 and will end in July 2017.

   The Scentroid Air and odour Academy has prepared 9 free live webinar on the air quality and odour management solutions. Each webinar will last 1 hour and will consist of technical sessions led by expert speakers. The content will cover Air Quality and Odour management in many aspects related to new technologies and solutions, as well as good practices in industries such as in wastewater, waste management, pulp and paper, oil and gas, petrochemical and refinery industries.
