The International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN) is organizing the 19th conference in the city of Aveiro, Portugal. ISOEN 2022 provides a forum for scientists, engineers and practitioners to share their latest findings, innovations and products in the area of artificial chemoreception.
The “Olfaction & Electronic Nose Symposium” is organized by the International Society for Olfaction and Chemical Sensing (ISOCS), as an event to share knowledge between other specialists in the areas of artificial taste and olfaction. This conference is lately organized in a rotating way in Europe, America and Asia. This time is the go for Europe and that is why it is being celebrated in Portugal in the city of Aveiro.
We are organizing a 1-hour workshop with Dr. Ralf Both, a German expert on odour regulations who participated in a recent paper on this subject. This workshop will take place on the 25th of October 2021 in Bilbao, Spain, and will provide an insight into the changes that will be included within the upcoming renewal of German legislation on Air Quality (TA Luft) regarding odour management.
The German Guideline on Odour in Ambient Air (GOAA) has been present for over two decades, but it reained only as a guideline. In the last week of May the Federal Council of Germany approved that the amendment of the TA Luft and now odour impact criteria set in the GOAA will be incorporated into the TA Luft, meaning that the GOAA will attain the status of an odour regulation. It is possible that the TALuft will be updated while the conference is taking place and so, it is a timely oportunity to have Dr. Both delivering this workshop at the conference.
The Odour Briefcase course has been launched by CASANZ. This 5 hour-course will take place online the 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th September 2021 from 10.30am – 15.30pm AEST (night time in Europe and America) and will be given by Jenny Barclay and Ian Evanson.
This course is intended to describe how odour practitioners have a range of tools at their disposal to undertake their studies, with each tool having its advantages, disadvantages and appropriateness for each application. The Odour Briefcase is divided into three key components as follows:
The company UNITECHNICS is organizing an International Expertise-Exchanging Webinar for tomorrow at 14:00. Experts from several parts of the world will be discussing about different issues related to environmental odour management.
The International Society for olfaction and chemical sensing (ISOCS) have published a plethora of online learning resources. These resources are for all those who want to rush up on already existing knowledge or learn something new, from anywhere!

We have an exciting section added to the upcoming 9th Odour & VOC/Air Emission Conference of the International Water Association in Bilbao this coming October. As well as many oral presentations we are lucky to have the opportunity to present new information and updates within the industry visually via posters too.
These posters will be displayed at the conference venue for the duration of the conference. During the breaks between oral presentation sessions, the authors and designer of the posters will have the chance to engage with the attendees, bringing their posters to life.
Are you interested in furthering your career, building on your network of professionals, strengthening your leadership skills and implementing new ideas within learning and development community? We have receintly received some queries regarding whether we will offer the opportunity for online attendence to this the conference. We are offering discounted prices for those who would prefer to attend the conference remotely. The cost of registration for online attendence is considerably lower. Previously, during the early days of the panemic, it wsa unlcear as to whether we could host the conference face to face or have to resort to a solely online event. The following article explains our current posistion. We will regularly update this post as conditions change.
Throughout 2021, we attended only online conferences related to odour management, WEF, NOSE, CASANZ etc. Although it is wonderful to attend a meeting remotely and continue sharing ideas, we missed out on an integral part of meeting for conferences...networking.
