You might probably have heard of the International Association of Applied Olfactometry (IAAO) that was presented for the first time in the 3rd IWA International conference on Odour and VOC's that took place in Barcelona in 2008. However after that presentation, there hasn't been much news about the IAAO. To try to fill this gap, the 29th of January, the first meeting of a new association of “odour Experts” was hold on line as an initiative of the companies Scentroid, Olfascan and Odometric.

The aim of this Association according to the promoters was to help in the development of the odour industry both technically and commercially to both share and to learn best practices in the profession by providing support for the professional development of its members.

In addition this initiative had some other objectives, such as advocate regulations, create better public awareness, joint ventures and partnerships between members in acquiring large projects, organizing Conferences and exhibits, Inter laboratories testing (olfactometry) and formal Panellist Training.
