Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd., a group company of UPL Ltd. (formerly known as United Phosphorus Ltd.) a leading manufacturer of gas detection equipment, announced its acquisition of the colorimetric detector tube business from MSA Auer GmbH, Germany, a subsidiary of MSA, based in the USA.

   MSA, established in 1914, is a global leader in the manufacture and supply of health and safety products with a turnover of over one billion. The company’s comprehensive line of products include breathing apparatus, gas masks, body protection suits, thermal imaging cameras, gas detection devices etc.

   This acquisition includes the transfer of all the equipment, plants/machineries, facilities and the technical know-how and literature connected with the manufacture of colorimetric detector tubes, pumps and other related products.

Uniphos, already an owner of its own detector tube technology and an established manufacturer and supplier of gas detection tubes in India and in several other countries, will now also produce in India detector tubes with MSA’s specification and technology.

   “By this acquisition, we hope to expand our customer base by providing MSA’s customers colorimetric tubes matching, in every respect, MSA’s tubes but manufactured in India. Detector tubes manufactured using MSA technology and our existing competitive manufacturing processes should benefit the customers”, said Rajju Shroff, Director- Uniphos and Chairman & MD of UPL Ltd.
