Odour conference Sydney December 2012   The inaugural conference on assessment and management of odours and air emissions will be held 4-6 December 2012, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Odour and air emissions (including volatile organic compounds, sulfur and nitrogen containing compounds, and greenhouse gases) have the potential to impact the environment and health. The assessment and management of these emissions are a high priority for a wide range of sectors including wastewater treatment, sewerage, solid and trade waste management, agriculture and livestock, and manufacturing. While significant advances have been made in the assessment and management of these emissions, numerous technical and institutional challenges remain.

On behalf of the UNSW Water Research Centre, we would like to invite you to join us for the inaugural Australian Odour and Emissions (AusOE) Conference. We are proud to have the support of the Australian Water Association (AWA), the Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ), and the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) for this conference.

This event will provide a national platform for practitioners, managers, and researchers to benefit from cross-industry knowledge transfer through profiling the latest developments in this field, and discussing successful approaches for the assessment and management of odour and air emissions.

Abstracts are now being accepted. Abstract submission guidelines and template can be viewed on the AusOE website.

To be considered for a platform presentation, abstracts must be received by 20 April 2012.

The Conference sessions will cover the following topics:

Sampling and Assessment:

  • Odour sampling and analysis
  • Greenhouse gas sampling and analysis
  • Sampling and analysis of VOC, sulfur and nitrogen odorants and emissions
  • Sampling techniques for area and volume sources
  • Field assessment of odours

Modelling:

  • Applications of dispersion modelling
  • Dispersion modelling evaluation and quality assurance
  • Inverse dispersion modelling and source identification
  • Alternative emission transport models

Abatement and Management:

  • Odour and gaseous emission control techniques
  • Biological abatement processes
  • Evaluation of odour control products
  • Innovative abatement processes
  • Complaints management and analysis
  • Odour and emissions management as a tool in community relations and compliance
  • Odour regulation and policy

Eurosensors, a highly successful series of conferences, that began in Cambridge in 1987, has become the leading European forum to cover the entire field of Sensors, Actuators, Microsystems and Nanosystems. It is the European conference devoted to the advancement of high technologies in the aforementioned fields, providing an excellent opportunity to bring together scientists and engineers from academia, research centers, national research institutes and companies, to present and discuss the latest results in these fields. This time the 26th European Conference on Solid-State Transducers will take place the 9-12 September, 2012 in Krakow, Poland.

Eurosensors attracts hundreds of participants every year, mainly from Europe but also from the entire countries (Australia, Japan, China, India, Israel and USA). Eurosensors asks for contributions describing the latest results on solid state based sensors, actuators, micro and nanosystems as well as the emerging and related technologies and application areas.
