WG2 lunch break in Barcelona   The 12th meeting of the working group 2 dealing with dynamic olfactometry just took place in Barcelona the 14th and 15th of February and again many decisions were taken that will affect the day by day work of the lab managers and other olfactometric facilities. 

 Mr Van Harreveld welcomed all participants to Barcelona and opened the meeting. The convenor remarked that CEN has implemented a new rule regarding the maximum duration of the preliminary stage of a project: 3 years. If a working group exceeds that time limit the project will automatically be abandoned. This rule will become effective in 2017 and has no retroactive effects.

ILC2017   The company Olfasense has announced the Interlaboratory Comparison for Olfactometry (ILC) based on EN 13725:2003 for 2017. Organizers invite laboratories from different countries to participate in this ILC2017 tests.

   This proficiency test allows laboratories to demonstrate compliance with its performance requirements and compare the performance of their laboratory internationally. The participation in Proficiency Testing (PT) for laboratories accredited to ISO17025 is not facultative. In addition, this can allow to demostrate compliance with the performance requirements and compare the performance of your lab.

   Olores.org had the pleasure of organizing the 11th meeting of the Working Group (WG) 2 of the Technical Committee 264 of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This group has the task of reviewing and updating the aged European Standard EN 13725 that deals with the determination of odour concentration by dynamic olfactometry and odour emission rate from stationary sources.

   This meeting took place in the city of Bilbao, Spain a day after the meeting of the WG41. This time the working documents focused on two of the juiciest part of the standard: Sampling and uncertainty. In the previous meeting in Delft. some aspects were commented but there is still further work ahead on these issues.
