P11Ip   A device developed by Aryballe Technologies (Grenoble – France) and based on Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) imaging was used to measure odorous compounds. One advantages of such a device is to propose a large number of receptors inside the measurement cell.

This aspect allows a distinction capability that cannot be obtained with classical instruments. Presented results show a strong capacity of distinction of compounds even isomers and a detection limit dependent on the family of compounds and the size of the molecule.

P05I3   In the industrial production of olive oil, both solid wastes and those produced from their incineration are a serious environmental problem since only 20% w/w of the fruit becomes oil and the rest is waste, mainly orujo and alperujo.

A key aspect to transforming these wastes into an important source of energy such as pellets is to recognize the most appropriate time of the year for waste drying, with the objective of minimizing the environmental impact of the volatile compounds contained in the waste.

P05I3   In Quintero Bay, an important industrial complex is located. Between August and September of 2018, air pollution events associated with odors occurred in the city of Quintero, resulting in intoxication of hundreds of people.

To try to clarify the origin of these events, an air quality monitoring campaign was carried out in one of the companies of the industrial complex (ENAP Terminal Quintero), in addition to the chemical speciation of the fugitive emissions existing in the Quintero Terminal ENAP. The air quality monitoring was performed using an equipment to an EPAS HIM 6000 HAZ SCANNER, Environmental Devices Corporation, USA, capable of measuring the concentration of twelve contaminants including HTC and VOCs, while the chemical speciation was performed using a TORION T9 portable GC / MS, Perkin Elmer, USA.
